July 18, 2019- Day 8

Hey everyone this is Isaac the Male American leader of Generation 7. I was really excited about being asked to help write a post for the blog, it might be a little difficult since we are now a week into the program and we've done a lot already. I will try to be through and brief at the same time!

The first thing I want to say is that these young adults are absolutely amazing and I constantly find myself in awe of some of the deep thoughts and ideas that they bring to our bible studies, vespers and every conversation. I already knew that the American youths could do it but the German youths are equally impressive (maybe more so since they do it in their second language). I've tried to get pictures of each vesper to post on social media but they have e been so good the past few nights I couldn't pull awake from the topics.

The next thing that I love is getting to know the German youths so the past few days I've broken away from the leader group and tagged along with different groups to talk & interact more with all of them. It has been a blast having Renè, Philipp and David explain different things to me about areas of Germany I haven't been to but at the same time we get to talk about my experiences from my previous living experience in Germany. Maybe it is the teacher in me but I love helping the Germans master some new vocabulary in the English language but also reminding a few of them that their English is really good even though they haven't had as much practice as others (You are doing great Captain!!!!)

I will try to wrap up by saying some of the sights have been amazing. The sculpture garden was awesome (as a non art person that is saying something), riding rides at the Mall of America was great (especially since I got to explain my love of theme parks -Holiday World Alum), the sanctuary at Plymouth Congregational Church was absolutely amazing, and helping pick out food & junk food for the Germans to try are some of the highlights so far.

I can't wait to share the Frankfort/Lafayette/Indianapolis area with Daniel this weekend along with hearing a out the experiences the youth have. The one thing I'm not looking g forward to is the long bus ride home (seriously I'm too tall to get comfortable).

Alright I've talked enough so I will stop now. Keep us in your prayers as we travel and parents thank you for letting us spend a great time with your youth!

Tschüss,
Isaac
