July 30, 2019- Day 20
Hi again! Sadly, the end of our adventures have arrived, but we are so glad to have experienced every second. Originally, I began the first day of the blog with Melina and had no idea what to share. The flight for our German friends was delayed so I didn’t even get to meet them on the first day of this blog. Now that we are the end there is so much to share in such a small space.
To share on the day we began with a wonderful Merom meal of waffles and sausage. By this point, the Merom spirit was caught. We catch the spirit for our little slice of heaven with ease and have so much love for this second home. To expand on it, we went to a local park where we shared about the experiences we have there and even met so local dogs. Local dogs like to follow our community around when we go to the park, but thankfully they knew when we left to stay at the park and not to follow our group back. We spent most of the day with free time involving sleeping, enjoying our lunch of chicken strips and tater tots, and playing all kinds of games. I spent most of my time prepping for our worship.
That evening was our final worship which began with a large dinner with family and friends of the program. The worship focused on our experiences of this three week adventure and how our growth in love and friendship is similar in the ways God created this world and the beautiful creatures that live on it.
It was a long and sad night knowing that tomorrow will be our final goodbyes for a year, but we would never give up any second of it. There is so much that has happened in such a short time as you have read for the last few weeks in our a blog, but words can never explain the shine of God’s love and love for each other that has developed in the special group. Until we meet again my friend.

Hallo, heute schreiben Luke und Ich (Melina) wieder den Blog, irgendwie ein komisches Gefühl. Wir hatten den ersten und den letzten Blogeintrag von der Reise nach Amerika und haben in der Zwischenzeit viele Sachen erlebt und gelernt. Der Gedanke daran, dass wir morgen für ein ganzes Jahr Good Bye sagen müssen, macht einen traurig. Andererseits freut man sich wieder auf seine Familie und Freunde Zuhause. Also nach fast drei abenteuerlichen Wochen war nun unser letzter gemeinsamer Tag erreicht.

Also nach fast drei abenteuerlichen Wochen war nun unser letzter gemeinsamer Tag erreicht.
Nach gemeinsamen Frühstück sind wir zu einem Park gelaufen mit schöner Sicht auf einen Fluss. Im Park haben wir uns unterhalten, uns auf dem Spielplatz vergnügt oder Football gespielt.
Zum Mittagessen sind wir wieder nach Hause gelaufen, danach hieß es erstmal Nap-/Pooltime.
Gegen Nachmittag haben wir uns getroffen um unseren Final Worship durchzugehen und die Lieder noch einmal zu proben. Danach haben wir uns alle ready für den Gottesdienst gemacht.
Um 18 Uhr gab es dann gemeinsames Abendessen unter dem Thema „Thanksgiving" , einige Eltern und andere Gäste waren auch dabei. Wir haben uns ausgetauscht und von unseren letzten Wochen erzählt.
Um halb 8 startete der Gottesdienst er stand unter dem Thema der „Schöpfungsgeschichte „ bezogen auf die Schöpfung der Gruppe von uns, den Young Ambassadors.
Das Highlight des Gottesdienstes war zum einen die verschiedenen Erlebnisse, die jedem einzelnen, erzählt wurden. Zum anderen haben wir das deutsche „Brückenbauerlied“ gesungen. Als Zeichen das wir eine Brücke zwischen Deutschland und der USA gebaut haben. Es war ein sehr schöner Gottesdienst, es herrschte eine lockere Atmosphäre und es wurde viel gelacht. Als kleines Giveaway gab es für jeden ein Kreuz aus Farbpapier mit der Aufschrift „May the road rise up to meet you.“ Wir beendeten den Gottesdienst mit dem bekannten Friendshipcircle der seit Generation 1 gemacht worden ist.
Es gab noch leckere Snacks. Den Abend haben dann die meisten zusammen ausklingen lassen bei guter Musik und Tanz.

July 28, 2019- Day 18
Today was a day of relaxation for the group. We started off with a trip to the tower at the top of College Hall. It's one of my favorite places in Merom because you can see out for miles from up there.
After the tower we went downstairs to have lunch, and we met our new bus driver, Joni. She took us from Merom to Terre Haute, where we stopped in Boot City. We had a lot of fun messing with the various cowboy outfits, from boots to ponchos, leather to flannel, jeans and everything in between.
Once we finished up in Boot City we moved on to a place called "Bogey's Family Fun Center." There, we went go-karting a few times, jumped on trampolines, and played in an arcade. I watched three teenagers climb into a play center which they were far too big for, and then get yelled at for being in the play center.
Next up was an outdoor concert at Salem United Church of Christ. Rodney Watts, an up-and-coming country artist, military veteran, and father of two little girls (Kenzie, who's 2 years old, and Trinity, who's 4), was our entertainer for the night. He interacted a lot with the crowd, and made many of us laugh (and some snort). While there, I met a very imaginitive boy named Oliver who now believes I can fly — I jumped off of a swing while it was moving, and he was very confused as to how I did it, so we told him that I can fly.
Soon after Rodney's wonderful performance, we drove back to Merom. We then had our final vespers, lead by Luke and Melina. There were some sad moments, a lot of laughter, and everyone contributed to the prayer. I think it's safe to say that we have all grown not only closer to God, but closer to each other in these past few weeks. I know that I'm going to miss all of these wonderful people over the next year, and that I'll be nothing short of excited when it's our turn to go to Germany.

Hallo!
Gestern ist sehr viel passiert, deswegen schreibe ich erst heute. Nach dem Frühstück sind wir auf dem Turm von der "City hall" gegangen, von dort aus konnte man über das ganze Camp gucken. Es war ein bisschen eng, deswegen konnten nicht alle gleichzeitig da hoch. Danach musste die Hälfte von uns Gartenarbeit machen da die anderen das schon am Vortag gemacht haben, die konnten sich dann ausruhen oder wie in unserem Fall schon mit Kofferpacken anfangen. Unser Mittagessen wurde heute eine Stunde vorgezogen, damit wir danach zur "Boot city" fahren konnten. Da konnten wir uns einmal wie ein richtiger Cowboy fühlen(vor allem Nele), danach sind wir ins "bogey's Family Fun Center". Dort konnten wir Kart fahren, Minigolf spielen und vieles mehr. Bevor wir wieder zurück gefahren sind, haben wir noch einen halt bei Walmart gemacht, damit wir Deutschen (größtenteils) Süßigkeiten einkaufen konnten. Auf dem Weg nach Merom, haben wir bei Lydias Kirche in Salem angehalten, dort trat nämlich gestern ein "Country music entertainer" auf. Außerdem gab es da auch etwas zu essen (Burger und Hotdog sowie Eis). Der country Sänger war Rodney Watts, er hat bekannte Lieder gesungen, aber auch seine eigenen Lieder, die hier sogar im Radio laufen. Seine Show handelte sich aber nicht nur um seine Songs sondern auch um Witzeinlagen die gute Stimmung verbreiteten. Zum Beispiel ist er durch die Reihen gegangen und hat uns mit einfach Gesten zum Lachen gebracht, beziehungsweise zum Grunzen. Als wir wieder in Merom angekommen sind, wollten wir eigentlich schwimmen gehen, aber das Pool-Licht hat nicht funktioniert und auch lifeguard Lily war nicht da. Deswegen hatten wir die Möglichkeit uns zusammen zusetzen und zu spielen. Als Abschluss des Tages haben Luke und Melina unsere letzte Andacht hier in Amerika gehalten. Dem Ende kommen wir leider immer näher und das hat man vor allem an der Andacht gemerkt.

July 27, 2019-Day 17
No hotel lobbies or neighborhood coffee shops this morning; today we woke with birdsong and the smell of fresh-cut grass at our sacred home-away-from-home Merom Camp and Retreat Center.
Today’s agenda was a busy balance of community work projects, the High Ropes challenge course, and lots of time for hanging out at the pool or just playing games.
We enjoyed playing volleyball after dinner (went swimming again!) then regrouped for a meaningful and lively Bible study that taught us the importance of “building each other up”.
We ended our day sitting around a campfire reflecting on the days activities and challenges (both mental and physical) while enjoying the culinary treat we call s’mores!
We closed our day with vespers that asked us to reflect on all the people, places and things that make us happy and renew our spirits; then reminded us to give thanks for all these things so that we never take them for granted.
Each day we spend together renews my spirit and heaps blessing upon blessings.

I want to make special mention of Melina, Leonie B, Jacqueline and Philipp who exhibited great courage, maturity and teamwork on the high ropes challenge today. They conquered personal fears through an adverse situation demonstrating their faith in God and each other. Well done!
